Boise, Idaho

Aerial hyperlapse of Boise, ID Jonny shot.

Last night we slept at Snake River View Welcome Center and Rest Stop along I-84 Eastbound in Fruitland, Idaho. We rolled in to the rest area around 1 AM. Thankfully the kids stayed asleep when we transferred them from their car seats to the bed. We all slept in until almost 9 AM, which didn’t feel quite long enough, but seemed pretty good considering the noise, traffic, and morning heat.

The kids sat on the sidewalk and ate breakfast while Jonny and I did a short workout.

We drove to Boise and stopped at Target to get Kaleo a new bike helmet. I was feeling really fatigued and on the verge of getting sick so I took a nap in the van while Jonny, Xiomara and Kaleo explored Julia Davis Park. Zoo Boise is adjacent to this park and the kids were very excited to spy giraffes over a fence.

In the afternoon we loaded up on groceries at Trader Joe’s, then headed to Bowler Park located on the east side of Boise to hang out for the evening. Bowler Park is tucked away among suburban neighborhoods and features a dog park, disc golf course, skate park, splash park, playground, and exercise equipment. The facilities were clean and seemed pretty new, and it wasn’t crowded at all. We would definitely come back again, and would recommend it as a stop for anyone in Boise with small children. Xiomara and Kaleo enjoyed the playground but spent most of their time playing on the fitness equipment. While here Jonny met a really friendly man who recommended we park at Harris Ridge, a new housing development with some of the most stunning southwestern facing views of Boise. We took his recommendation and were not disappointed. The sunset views were gorgeous, and it felt safe and quite for overnight parking.
